Top 10 NFL Stadiums to Dine At
Tailgating is fun, but we can all agree that sometimes there is nothing like real stadium food. Of course there is the traditional hot dogs and nachos, but what’s better than visiting a stadium and finding something really unique, like their local specialties. These stadiums have truly outdone themselves on classic game day fare, cuisine variety, or their city’s must-have eats. Here is a list of our top ten favorite stadiums to dine at, in no particular order.
1. Cowboys Stadium – Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys Stadium has more than 150 concessions to feast from. Their stadium menu features mouth-watering items like a Green Chile Kobe Burger and a Texas Catfish Po’ Boy. If that’s not enough, add on an order of their Sweet Potato Fries.
2. FedEx Field – Washington Redskins
Thanks to Redskins Owner Dan Snyder, FedEx Field has around 50 concessions, one featuring some of their best local BBQ-Famous Dave’s. Their stadium also has a few Johnny Rockets and Hooters, for classic burgers and finger-linking wings. However, their real claim to fame is their “Redskin Rita,” the team’s signature margarita, which goes for only $6. If you’re not in the mood for a “Rita” the Daniel Snyders’ Redskins’ stadium also offers a wide selection of beers-24 on draft, 26 in bottles, and the 175-seat-glass-enclosed brew house. Duke of Perth – Chicago
Thursday late evening I dined at Duke of Perth, a popular Scottish restaurant in Chicago’s northside. Duke of Perth’s most popular feature is their staggering selection of Scottish Ales and Whiskeys. We were greeted by a friendly young blond girl and seated in the leafy outdoor back patio. Due to the light crowd our friendly and attentive waiter was able to chat with us about the neighborhood and nightlife. One thing I love about Chicago’s northside areas are the secluded courtyards and patios you find in the rear of many restaurants and bars.
Their food is standard Scottish fare, but exotic for myself who’s never visited the region or sampled much of the food. One such item is the Scotch Egg Burger, a beef patty topped with fried egg and roasted pepper. On Wednesdays and Fridays you can enjoy unlimited fish and chips for $9.25. I had the salmon and cod cakes served with potatoes and cucumber salad. Caleb had the grilled veggie sandwich – zucchini, squash, and red peppers with goat cheese. We each switched between the light Tennants Lager and the Belhaven Twisted Thistle beers. Read the rest of this entry »

3 New American Cuisine Restaurants Worth a Visit in Chicago
New restaurants open in Chicago everyday.
Unfortunately, restaurants also close in Chicago everyday.
It’s a cut-throat business in a cut-throat market. Here today, gone tomorrow is unfortunately the norm instead of the exception.
If “institutions” like Le Fancais, Trio, Ambria and Gordon can close their doors for the last time, what hope is there for a newcomer?
However, people keep trying. New restaurants open in Chicago everyday. The best ones will stick around because they are good and deserve your business.
Here are 3 new American Cuisine Restaurants that I think you should try out soon. They will probably be here next year — they are good enough to stay around — but you never know.
Abigail’s American Bistro
Super-Chef Michael Paulson is the chef/owner force behind this neighborhood spot that seeks to bring fine dining out away from the Loop.
In my opinion, he has succeeded dramatically.
Duck with honey-onion marmalade, beef short ribs with sweet potato gnocchi, mushroom veal meatloaf with shiitake sauce and sticky toffee pudding for dessert are all winners. But be sure to start with the fennel-crusted scallions with caramelized cauliflower or you will be wishing you did. Read the rest of this entry »
